Friend --
Thank you so much to
every Green for taking the time to vote on the proposed bylaws
changes. Here are the results of our vote on two Bylaws Proposals in
the November 2021 Emergency Assembly.
Bylaws Proposal #1:
Single transferable vote - PASSED
Bylaws Proposal #2:
Second Membership Coordinator - FAILED TO MEET 2/3
Details of the
results are also posted on our website and viewable by clicking the
link above or by visiting the webpage
[https://www.mdgreens.org/november_2021_assembly_results] directly.
Please note that any disputes of the election results must be
submitted by Tuesday, December 14, at 7:00 pm.
We are excited to
have such a strong and clear statement for ranked choice voting (RCV)
and proportional representation for multi-member seats. We are
continuing to work for RCV with the state legislature in Annapolis.
Legislation has already been drafted (MC 13-22) to allow Montgomery
County to use RCV in county-wide elections. Montgomery is Maryland's
most populous county, so having RCV would help it to spread. Because
the state legislature must give permission, please contact your
legislators no matter where in Maryland you live.
If you would like to
be involved in the Green Party in any way, small or large, at the
local, state, or national level, please contact us at
[email protected]. We're always looking for good candidates to
run for office, to help with our petition drives, serve on a
committee, or work on an issue that you care about.
Yours for a Green
future,
