ACT For ALS Overwhelmingly Passes House
I'm pleased to see the ACT for ALS bill sail through the House with bipartisan support. This great piece of legislation is a strong step forward for so many people who are diagnosed with ALS.
We worked for over a year to pass this lifesaving bill, and I am honored to work with Steve Gleason, who has been an inspiration to so many and also championed this bill as part of his tireless work to ensure people battling ALS have more opportunities when seeking treatment, cures, and independence to live their lives to the fullest.
This legislation advances key research and increases access to lifesaving drugs, and I'm glad to see Republicans and Democrats come together to take action for those diagnosed with ALS and other neuro diseases who are counting on us.

Washington Democrats Are Ignoring Their Multiple Self-Made Crises
At this week's House Republican Leadership press conference, I called on President Biden and Congressional Democrats to address their numerous self-made crises that are hurting American families, workers, and small businesses.

The Biden Administration is responsible for creating the national security and humanitarian crisis at the southern border through their open-door immigration policies. This border crisis has led to an opioid crisis across America as we see a flood of drugs coming across our southern border. Biden needs to step up and secure our border. It's a national defense issue as well as a life and death issue in communities all across America.
Biden has also created a gasoline and energy crisis where many hardworking families cannot even afford to fill up their tanks because gas prices are so high. Biden should be focused on working with American energy producers to boost energy production here at home — not begging OPEC and Russia to produce more oil or coordinating with China to release strategic reserves. The Biden Administration should reverse course on its devastating decisions to cancel and halt pipelines in the U.S., close off federal lands and waters to oil and gas development and production, and delay permitting for energy infrastructure projects.
Urging the IRS to Alleviate Massive Backlog of Unprocessed Returns From Previous Filing Seasons
I joined many of my House Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Charles Rettig expressing our concerns about the massive backlog of unprocessed returns from the current 2021 and 2020 filing seasons.
This backlog is causing significant and unnecessary burdens for families and small businesses who have not received answers from the IRS about why their returns haven't been processed, which threatens to harm millions of taxpayers. We urged the IRS to take immediate action to resolve the backlog in time for the start of the 2022 filing season.
