While this leaves the door open for more court battles, Texas’ assault on the right to choose is dangerous and will remain in place for the time being.

And with a decision on the Mississippi 15-week ban still looming, the future of reproductive healthcare is at a pivotal moment.

Each case facing the Supreme Court is a new opportunity for anti-abortion idealogues to erode the right to have an abortion. Our best line of defense is to elect state-level leaders to stop bad ideas like we’ve seen in Texas and Mississippi from becoming law in the first place. And Maryland’s next Attorney General is going to be our first line of defense.

That’s why we have to send a champion for reproductive healthcare like Anthony Brown to Annapolis. He has always defended Roe v. Wade in Congress, including co-sponsoring the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify the right to choose into federal law. And he’ll fight back against any attacks on the reproductive rights of Marylanders.
