<[link removed]> As National Democrats Call Out Extreme
Gerrymandering in Maryland, An America United Releases New Video: “Fighting For
The People”
<[link removed]>
    <[link removed]>
While Democrats in Annapolis race to pass a redistricting map that makes the
most extreme gerrymandering in the nation even worse, national Democrats are
calling out this blatantly un-democratic push.

Former Senator and Democratic Vice presidential nominee Joe Liberman wrote an
op-ed inNewsweek
<[link removed]>
, urging Maryland Democrats to not “ignore the will of the people” or “ignore
their voices.” Over the weekend, former NATO supreme allied commander and
Democratic presidential candidate General Wesley Clark published an op-ed in
The Washington Post
<[link removed]>
, accusing Maryland Democratic legislators of “another egregious example of the
suppression of the minority vote” and a challenge to the “very fundamentals of
democracy.”

This comes as An America United is releasing a new video first reported in the
Daily Caller
<[link removed]>
, highlighting Governor Hogan’s fight to return the power to draw redistricting
maps from partisan politicians back to the people.

While Vetoing Egregiously Gerrymandered Maps, Governor Hogan Calls on Biden
DOJ to Add Maryland to Texas Civil Rights Suit
<[link removed]>
Governor Hogan continued his years-long fight to end gerrymandering in
Maryland, vetoing
<[link removed]>
congressional maps that make the nation’s worst gerrymandered maps even worse.

Governor Hogan also called on the Biden Department of Justice to add Maryland
to their lawsuit against Texas alleging
<[link removed]>
“discriminatory redistricting.” As Rep. Kweisi Mfume, who represents parts of
Baltimore City in Congress has noted, Baltimore is being “chopped at”
<[link removed]>
in these congressional maps, diluting minority representation. Even though the
map passed by the Maryland legislature is even more discriminatory against
minority voters than the Texas map, the Biden administration has yet to comment.

The gerrymandered map passed by the legislature is an egregious violation of
the civil rights of the people of Maryland. Today, we're calling on the Biden
administration to immediately add the state of Maryland into their lawsuit.
