Yesterday, the Supreme Court allowed the Texas abortion ban to stay in effect while Texans seek relief in lower courts. This is the extreme law that bans abortion as early as six weeks. It also allows civilian bounty hunters to track down and sue health care workers for providing reproductive health care.

On December 1st, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on yet another law attacking abortion access: a 15-week abortion ban out of Mississippi.

I was proud to stand outside the Supreme Court in support of the right to safe and legal abortions.

Unfortunately, we will not know the court’s decision on the Mississippi case until June or even July. I will be honest, I do not feel super optimistic.

Anti-choice extremists have long made it their mission to take the constitutional right to an abortion away. In the past decade, states have enacted 483 new abortion restrictions. It is critical that we step up against attacks on Roe v. Wade — now more than ever.
