I’m beyond outraged, John.
Just one week after four innocent children were murdered in their school in Oxford, MI, Rep. Lauren Boebert had the audacity to post this Christmas card on Twitter: I’m sure Rep. Boebert and her supporters will laugh this photo off as a joke. But I’m here to tell you, as a survivor of gun violence, this is serious and dangerous.
My name is Fred Guttenberg and my beloved daughter, Jaime, was one of the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, FL.
The teen gunman who killed my daughter was inspired by photos just like this. And whether Rep. Boebert knows it or not, I’m here to tell you: This is NOT what responsible gun ownership looks like — and that’s why I need your help right now, John. I need gun owners and non-gun owners alike to unite and take a stand against this photo.
This holiday season, we will have an empty chair at our dinner table for Jaime. I miss her each and every day. But I know that by working with dedicated grassroots supporters like you, we have a fighting chance to end gun violence and save lives.
Thank you, We’re Calling on Michigan Lawmakers to Ban High-Capacity Magazines Following the tragedy at Oxford High School in Michigan, where four students were shot and killed and 7 others were injured, we're proud to support Michigan State Sen. Rosemary Bayer as she announced legislation to ban high-capacity magazines. High-capacity magazines exist only to enact maximum destruction, and there’s simply no reason that everyday Americans need access to them. As we call on lawmakers to support this vital legislation, will you share our graphic on social media? We need to show Sen. Bayer broad support for this life-saving legislation! 🎧 Episode 162: How Military Members — and Communities — Can Help Prevent Firearm Suicide
Every day in America, about 17 veterans die by suicide, and 12 of those 17 veterans (68%) die from a self-inflicted firearm injury. Veterans leave behind a large community of family, friends, and colleagues who are left with big, painful questions. To discuss how to better understand this loss, how to help the bereaved with their grief, and to prevent other suicides, we're joined by Dr. Carla Stumpf Patton. Michigan Democrats Introduce Bill to Ban Magazines Over 10 Rounds, WLNS 6 We thank San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Supervisor Catherine Stefani — this week’s Gun Violence Prevention Heroes of the Week — for banning ghost guns in San Fransisco!
This week, Brady California made history when we joined San Francisco Mayor London Breed as she signed the city’s first local ordinance into law banning untraceable “ghost guns!” These fully functioning firearms have been used in brutal shootings across California and have been recovered in record numbers in San Francisco. But thanks to the leadership of Supervisor Catherine Stefani and Brady California Policy & Legislative Chair Ruth Borenstein, San Francisco took bold action to prevent the proliferation of these homemade firearms. Top: (L-R) Tanya Schardt, Brady senior counsel and director of state and federal policy, Ruth Borenstien, Brady CA legislative & policy chair, Mayor Breed, Shikha Hamilton, Brady director of advocacy and mobilization, and Gabriel Johnson-Scott, gun violence survivor and son of Mattie Scott, Brady CA president. Bottom: (L-R) Gun violence prevention activist, Police Chief William Scott, Supervisor Stefani, Tanya Schardt, Brady senior counsel and director of state and federal policy, Ruth Borenstien, Brady CA legislative & policy chair, and a gun violence prevention activist. San Francisco now joins Los Angeles and San Diego as the first local ordinances in America to ban ghost guns. Will you join us in thanking Mayor Breed and Supervisor Stefani for taking bold action against ghost guns?
