This is a pivotal moment for our country. Our public school system has been robbed. Corruption is rampant as our institutions and programs get looted to serve wealthy interests. We’re nearly out of time to curb climate change. The costs of essentials like healthcare for everyday people are skyrocketing. We need a fierce and effective advocate in Congress who will fight for real change; we need Jamaal Bowman.
For my first endorsement this election cycle, I am proud to endorse Jamaal Bowman for Congress. He has fought for teachers, students, and families in the Bronx and Westchester for twenty years. He works as the founding principal of one of the best public middle schools in the city, the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action.
As a leader in the opt out movement across the state, Jamaal connected parents from diverse backgrounds to the fight. He has been a steering committee member for NYSAPE, where his work centered on successfully dismantling Common Core in New York and decoupling teacher evaluations from student test scores. He has also been a member of New York State Early Childhood Blue Ribbon Committee, where he championed early childhood learning standards. We need his experience, passion, and expertise in Congress.
