On December 7th, 2021, Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2022. A version of this bill is passed every year and specifies national laws governing the military, Department of Defense, and the annual budget of these entities. The NDAA is essential in shaping the future of the United States military and service members. I share your concern that “Red Flag” laws should never have made their way onto this bill. “Red Flag” laws are a blatant violation of our Second Amendment rights, and the inclusion of such provision was a clerical error. I am happy to inform you this provision was removed from the final version of the NDAA, which will become law, and does plenty of good for our nation, Northwest Florida, and the America First Agenda.
This year’s NDAA allocates over $100 million to Northwest Florida for essential projects, including funding for Armed Overwatch and the development of high mobility ground robots for infantry, novel printed armaments components, procurement of C-130J’s, F/A-18 (E/F), F-15EX’s, and improvements to the Gulf Test Range. Furthermore, it provides critical funding for new projects and upgrades and provides a 2.7 percent pay raise for our troops. This is a massive win for our military and our fellow patriots who have served or are currently serving.

174 days since we sent a letter to FBI Director Wray about federal agents’ involvement in the January 6 events, Marjorie Taylor Green, Louie Gohmert, Paul Gosar, and me held a press conference to reflect on these matters, and most importantly, to call for justice for those being held in the January 6 jail without the due process they deserve as American citizens. We will continue to hold the Deep State accountable for their abuse of powers!

In the House judiciary Committee this week, I made it clear that Democrats using their threat construction and the DOJ to attack parents is inexcusable. Folks show up at school board meetings not just because they care about their kids, but because they care about the outcomes in our school system and our country. And when they do so, we do not need the federal government tagging parents as threats – to do so is complete insanity.

Sheriff Larry Ashley is celebrated and loved by all who know him. He has left a remarkable legacy in the law enforcement community and serves as a model of excellence for future generations to follow. We are blessed to have this incredible man as part of Northwest Florida’s history.
GOV. DESANTIS RELEASES FREEDOM FIRST BUDGET
In another lesson for the federal government in Washington, Governor Ron DeSantis has released a responsible and productive budget for Florida in FY 2022-2023. Aside from providing $660 million for Everglades restoration, $195 million for targeted water quality improvements, $35 million for water improvement, and $5 million to address red tide cleanup, this budget provides for a Fuel Tax Holiday, which will save Florida families an aggregate of $1 billion. DeSantis also made it clear that this budget also “protects freedom and liberty by once again rejecting mandates and lockdowns.” I’m proud of Florida Republican leadership on finalizing a Real budget, and hope that the rest of the United States can learn from this initiative.
