Last year, when I raised over $1 million from small dollar donors around the nation to defeat Louie Gohmert, you were right there by my side, every step of the way.
We weren’t ultimately successful in that effort, but the fight to turn East Texas blue continues.
That’s why I’ve announced my campaign for Party Chair of the Smith County Democratic Party. I know first-hand that, unless we improve and reshape the infrastructure of the largest county Democratic Party in Louie’s old district, we will never come close to turning Texas blue.
Smith County is the largest suburban county in Texas still pushing out high Republican numbers for statewide candidates.
That’s why we need new leadership.
We must fundraise AND initiate a year-round program to expose likely Democrats to our local party, and give them a reason to engage with the party—and vote for our candidates!
Only by reshaping the vote in East Texas can we turn Texas blue. Smith County is a vital part of that. We need an experienced, qualified leader to accomplish this, and that’s why I’m running.
As Party Chair, I will Institute a number of innovative programs to create a party that functions year-round, and not just six months before an election begins, to accomplish these goals.
