Team,

What do you think of when you’re asked what a politician looks like?

For a long time, people holding public office looked the same across the board.

But women are shaking things up. Last year, more women were elected to Congress than ever before -- with many firsts for women of color and women from different career backgrounds.

More women at the table in our policymaking process strengthens our democracy. If you agree, add your name >>

As the first woman ever elected to represent Michigan’s 11th District in Congress, I was proud to stand beside dozens of trailblazers fighting to push our country forward as the House Democratic Women’s Caucus rolled out our legislative priorities.

We proposed plans to increase economic opportunity for women and their families, protect women from violence, push for legal protections for women and members of the LGTBQ community, support women servicemembers and veterans, and empower women globally.

We’re also working to expand access to reproductive health care and reverse rising maternal mortality rates, especially for women of color.

Whether it’s fighting for equal pay for equal work or ensuring that young girls have the same opportunities to enter STEM careers -- I’ll never quit fighting to make sure women have a voice at the table.
