John -- The Boston Globe published an op-ed detailing how the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down part of the Voting Rights Act helped lead to the current assault on voting rights across the country.

The ACLU’s Sophia Lin Lakin, who penned the Boston Globe op-ed, said the Supreme Court’s decision to gut the Voting Rights Act is to blame for this “wave of voter suppression laws unlike anything the country had seen in a generation” -- and we believe the 400+ voter suppression bills in 49 states provide proof for that statement.

As legal challenges mount to gerrymandered maps passed in states like Ohio and Texas, we must also ensure folks can still participate in elections without barriers to the ballot box.
