No Labels Goes to Eleven

A season to celebrate… and expand.

This Monday, December 13, will mark 11 years of No Labels.

To that end, we plan to spend some of next week trying to expand our ranks.

Our theme is “Join No Labels into the future.”

Through content on social media and other platforms, we would like your help in reaching out to Americans who share our vision of the power of two-party solutions in Congress but who are not yet a part of No Labels.

Yes, I know December is generally more of a time of taking it easy, relaxing and celebrating with friends and family. By all means, do that too.

Here’s a sneak preview for you of one of the ways we will get the message out next week — a new video commemorating our 11th year and celebrating the great success of the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Take time over the weekend to send that video to, say, five friends and family, and ask them to join No Labels.

I know there are way more people who believe in our cause than have formally joined — or, in too many cases, than are even familiar with our work.

Please help us correct that.

The stakes are so high, as you know.

And just as we need more members of No Labels, we need more allied members of Congress like West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin.

This past week, he renewed his call for Democrats to slow down their rush to pass a wholly partisan version of the so-called “Build Back Better” initiative — and, more fundamentally, urged his party to consider aiming to achieve some of the same goals through bipartisan legislation, as was done with the infrastructure measure.

Here is another of our new videos (which we would also like you to share on social media and via other platforms), highlighting Senator Manchin’s call for a “pause” in the process.

As you will hear us say a lot next week, there’s no time like the present to think about the future of the No Labels movement.

Thank you for being with us on this important ride.

No Labeling Episode 8: The Centrist Solution
By Ryan Clancy & me

Ryan and I decided to yield back the balance of our time this week for a special edition of our podcast.

He was Al Gore's running mate in 2000 and then, improbably, almost found himself on a cross-party ticket with his close friend John McCain just eight years later. This week, No Labels National Co-chair and former Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman is our special guest, talking about his new book, filled with fascinating stories about what he learned building relationships across the aisle during his quarter-century in the Senate.

What if Democrats Listened to Us This Time?
By me!

Here is an op-ed piece I wrote for The Hill that is scheduled to be published Friday afternoon, making the case for how Democrats should be using the two-party-solution template of the infrastructure bill to address issues in Build Back Better in a bipartisan way. You will be able to find the article Friday here around the time that Floridians are sitting down to their early-bird specials.
