I want to share some updates with you from Congress and across the country. Here are three things to know today:

I want to applaud the recently passed defense bill for its robust investment in our armed forces, and the support it will provide for middle and Southwest Georgia bases. I was a strong advocate for provisions in this year's National Defense Authorization Act, which found bipartisan solutions to improve national security and military families' quality of life. The bill also includes $6 million in construction funding for Military Housing Privatization Initiative Restructuring at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA — as well as funding for other infrastructure investments for bases across Georgia.

This week, we mourn the loss of former Senator, Bob Dole. A decorated soldier who put his life on the line for his brothers in uniform, Senator Dole truly embodied the Greatest Generation. He overcame great adversity in life, and honorably served the American people in Congress. I had the honor and fortune of working with Senator Dole on the Eisenhower Commission. In my role as chair of the appropriations committee, I continue to support the Dole-McGovern Good for Education program. Regardless of party affiliation, he was warmhearted to all those around him. We will miss Bob dearly. His humility, selflessness, and resilience should be guideposts for us all.

Once again, I want to highlight that we are almost at the end of the year, and it is vital that we hit our fundraising goals in the home stretch. Between new challengers, increased NRCC spending, and the challenges created by redistricting, my campaign is going to need all the support we can get.
