Donald Trump proved that words matter, especially when they come from an elected official. His use of racist and offensive language against people of color, women, and other communities divided our country and led to an increase in hate crimes during his tenure.  
 
That’s why it is so disgusting that Rep. Lauren Boebert jokingly told a story implicating Rep. Ilhan Omar as a suicide bomber. When Boebert called Omar to apologize for the offensive comment, she refused to publicly apologize and then called Omar a terrorist.    
 
We can’t allow Republicans like Lauren Boebert to take back the House next year and occupy a more powerful position to harm marginalize communities in this country.
