After 3 years as a male swimmer, Lia Thomas is crushing records as a female.
Hi Friend,
If you haven’t heard the latest NCAA news, Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer on the women’s team at the University of Pennsylvania has made waves in and out of the pool after breaking several Ivy League and school records. But what makes this accomplishment infuriating is that the past three seasons, Thomas, formerly known as Will, was a male and swam on the men’s team.

As a former NCAA Division 1 female athlete and coach of high school female athletes who are working hard to compete at the next level, I’m urging you to pay attention to this because these stories are happening across the country and will mark the end of women’s sports as a whole if we sit on the sidelines and watch.

Truly, is this the future of women’s sports? Is this fair to women? It is not.

Lia Thomas shattered numerous Ivy League women’s records this season, but would have placed 14th rather than 1st if competing among men in the 100-yard freestyle. Last month, Thomas vanquished meet rivals while shattering Penn’s female records in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle.

The NCAA “firmly and unequivocally” endorses transgender, male-bodied athletes on women’s collegiate sports teams. But science tells us that biological males who have already undergone male puberty maintain an unfair athletic advantage over biological females, even after completing a strict testosterone-blocking regimen.

Independent Women’s Law Center compiled all the data on this in one place. We focused on FACTS and SCIENCE to show why this policy is so unfair and how it will put biological girls and women at such a disadvantage that women’s sports will never be the same.

Allowing male-bodied athletes to compete with and against females puts women at a significant disadvantage in most sports, and we are seeing more and more real life examples, like the female athletes being pushed aside by Thomas.

There are more stories out there. And these stories are so important — they make people realize just what’s at stake for women athletes. We need you to share your’s to help protect women’s sports. ([link removed])
