Peace and love, John, Jamaal Bowman here:
Back in early 2020, I was several months into a primary campaign against one of the most entrenched incumbent members of Congress.
Many people thought we stood no chance. But after talking to too many members of my community who felt they weren't being heard by their current representative and watching a wave of unapologetic progressive primary challengers win in 2018 — I knew our movement was on to something special.
The Working Families Party believed that too — and when they endorsed my campaign in February 2020, they became a critical partner in our fight. And the corporate status quo ended up being no match for the multiracial movement of working people that helped power us to victory in NY-16.
John, our work is far from over. And if I've learned anything from my first term in the House, it's that we need to protect and expand our progressive coalition in Congress with everything we've got as we approach the 2022 midterm elections.
For two decades, the Working Families Party has put in the work to recruit and train people-powered candidates up and down the ballot. That's why I'm proud to be one of the thousands of WFP members nationwide who are coming together to invest in our collective power as working people.
Please join me in becoming a sustaining member of WFP with a monthly contribution of $10 or more so we can elect more working families champions to Congress and at every level of government in 2022 and beyond.

Last year, voters gave Democrats control of the White House and Congress because they expected us to deliver for them. And while we've made some big strides — on things like getting child tax credits and COVID relief to the people — working families are still struggling.
Corporate lobbyists and special interest groups have way too much influence in Congress. Despite widespread support for lower drug prices, paid leave, and universal pre-k among voters, it took us months to get the Build Back Better Act out of the House.
But I believe we urgently need to do more. That's why the Working Families Party is making big moves to protect seats like mine and elect more fearless leaders to our progressive coalition in Congress who will put their community's needs before the interests of wealthy donors.
We've got a lot of work to do before the 2022 primaries begin in just three months. Monthly donations from supporters like you help WFP plan for the fights ahead. Will you join me as a WFP member today?
