John, reproductive freedom is under crisis in Texas:
Supreme Court allows challenge to Texas abortion law to continue but lets SB8 stand
|
For the past 5 months, Texans’ right to receive an abortion has been restricted, all thanks to the passage of S.B.8 and the Supreme Court’s refusal to overturn this oppressive legislation. This is the most restrictive abortion law since the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973. Each day that S.B.8 remains in effect harms Texans and endangers our country’s constitutional system of governance.
As someone from the border, Jessica Cisneros has witnessed firsthand how quality health care is under-resourced for people of color; especially undocumented people. It’s already next to impossible for undocumented people to get the care they need after the six-week mark because they can’t leave the area due to immigration checkpoints. Black and Brown communities, especially along the border, are already bearing the brunt of this oppressive, draconian legislation. And now more than ever, we need leaders in Congress who will fight for their right to reproductive freedom.
Henry Cuellar may have put his anti-choice donors over Texans’ human rights, but Jessica refuses to give up fighting for abortion rights. And once she’s elected to Congress, she will make it a priority to codify Roe v. Wade so that all people, have access to abortion care without restrictions and repeal the Hyde Amendment so abortion can be affordable.
But for this to happen, Jessica needs a record number of grassroots donors by my side to help lead her victory so she can begin the work in Congress to protect the right to choose. If you think it’s time that TX-28 gets a fearless leader who values reproductive freedom, will you contribute anything today to help elect Jessica Cisneros to Congress?
