Friend ? My name is Jennessa and I lead LCV's Climate Action programs across the country. Since 2015, I've been working with LCV to advance climate progress and empower supporters like you to act to address the climate crisis.

Everyday, I hear from people who are living with the impacts of the climate crisis ? from the raging wildfires that are burning across California right now to devastating hurricanes in North Carolina, record-setting heat waves in Nevada, and rising sea levels in New Hampshire. Climate change is impacting our communities now and hits communities of color and low-income communities hardest.

Their stories always hit close to home for me because I started my career at LCV after seeing how my community was impacted by climate change. Growing up, I spent as much time as I could at the beaches in New Hampshire and Maine. As I grew older, I saw how climate change caused sea levels to rise and how this was devastating the beaches that I played at. The more I learned, the more concerned I became. But I felt like climate change wasn't part of the conversation, especially from leaders in public office.

When I heard that LCV was working across the country to make sure everyone knows how important it is to act on climate change, I knew that I needed to get involved. I started going to community events and before I knew it, I was spending my weekends getting my neighbors involved to advance climate legislation and encourage their elected officials to act. While volunteering, I had hundreds of conversations with people in my community about climate change. Now I lead our organizing programs across the country, helping LCV members get involved in climate advocacy by taking action.

To advance meaningful climate action in our communities, it is now more important ever to have the leaders at all levels of government who will commit to act. We need more environmental advocates to stand up for their communities and fight for climate action. And we can't afford to wait.

The 2020 election is our last, best chance to put meaningful solutions in place to address climate change. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment, friend ? can you pledge right now to get involved to save our planet in 2020?
