John, it’s been a long, action-packed year for
us at Real Justice.

We want you to take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments and wins
that you made happen. We can never say it enough – YOU are who makes all
of this possible,
John.

then make a donation to ensure we can continue this critical work in 2022.

We had some ENORMOUS successes on the electoral front.

Together, we helped reelect justice champions Philadelphia County DA Larry
Krasner and Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Morales. In
Philly, we dealt a huge blow to the Fraternal Order of the Police, who
tried as hard as they could to defeat us.

We helped elect new DA’s – expanding our work in Virginia by Ramin Fatehi
in Norfolk and electing Alvin Bragg as the first Black DA for Manhattan,
New York.

And, we launched plans to defend elected DA’s from dangerous recall
efforts – including Chesa Boudin in San Francisco, Parisa Dehghani-Tafti
in Arlington and Falls Church, VA, and Steve Descano in Fairfax, VA.

incredible leaders and fight back against those intent on rolling back our
progress.

Our DA’s took bold action to reduce gun violence. San Francisco DA Chesa
Boudin even pursued a lawsuit against ghost gun manufacturers to stop
illegal gun production at the source.

Our DA’s prosecuted corrupt, violent cops. In Travis County, Jose Garza
has brought 11 indictments against officers who previously got away with
killing people — including the officers who murdered Michael Ramos and
Javier Ambler.

Chesa Boudin is the first DA in San Francisco ever to prosecute a cop for
murder and expanded on his work for accountability this year by
prosecuting an officer who shot an unarmed man in 2017. And in Contra
Costa, Diana Becton prosecuted an officer for killing a man with mental
health issues.

New Orleans DA Jason Williams freed innocent people. These are people who
were affected by Jim Crow era policies, including the “forgotten men” who
were incarcerated for over five decades due to broken promises. He is also
reopening cases where people were convicted by nonunanimous Jim Crow
juries.

Our DA’s exonerated innocent people who were wrongfully convicted. Larry
Krasner exonerated more Black men who were wrongfully convicted by
detectives who coerced false confessions and witness statements for
decades. Kim Foxx vacated five more convictions that were tied to corrupt
police sergeant Ronald Watts.

Austin DA José Garza released a bold plan to combat the opioid crisis. His
holistic approach includes making fentanyl test strips and life-saving
drugs like naloxone readily available, and partnering with local
organizations to raise awareness.

Los Angeles DA George Gascón dismissed nearly 60,000 past marijuana
convictions – which are convictions disproportionately brought against
Black and brown people.

AND, we played a key role in helping civil rights attorney Lee Merritt
launch his campaign for Texas Attorney General. Together, our community
raised $77,855 for Lee from nearly 3,000 individual, small-dollar
donations in just a week. In addition, Real Justice sent Lee’s campaign a
gift of $122,298.

John, if folks like you had not backed Real
Justice from the beginning, took action, helped elect these DAs, and
continued fighting against harmful policies, none of this would have
happened.

with us. You are an essential part of what we do – make a contribution to
help us hit our year-end goal of $530,000 and continue making this
life-saving work possible.

With gratitude,

Chris Lazare
