Down with the Vaccine Mandates
This week, the Senate voted, on a bipartisan basis, to oppose President Biden’s overreaching vaccine mandate for private individuals. People across Wyoming have approached me about the potential impacts of these vaccine mandates. They are worried about their jobs and their medical autonomy.

The mandate at hand would require companies with more than 100 employees to force their employees to get vaccinated or face termination. This would impact over 80 million private sector employees across the nation, in addition to millions of federal workers and contractors who must comply under other mandates.

I am vaccinated. I think this vaccine is safe and effective. But I made that decision with my doctor, not because the federal government demanded I do it. People in Wyoming should have that same freedom.

This mandate would have a disastrous impact on Wyoming businesses that are already struggling to recover from the pandemic. It would exacerbate the supply chain crisis Wyoming businesses are facing by straining the already stretched-thin transportation industry.

I am pleased this measure passed the Senate, but we must keep fighting until the vaccine mandate is gone once and for all.

Happy Trails,
WORKING IN WASHINGTON
  • joined Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) and my Republican colleagues to call for the repeal of President Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate on small businesses. People in Wyoming are being forced to choose between their jobs and a private healthcare decision. On Wednesday, the Senate voted to block this government overreach with bipartisan support.
Legislative Actions:
  • introduced the State, Tribal, and Local Species Transparency and Recovery Act. This bill would require federal agencies to use data submitted by states, counties, and tribes for ESA listing determinations.
    • Wyoming is the perfect case study for successful species recovery efforts. Any status change under the Endangered Species Act should include input from state wildlife scientists. This bill would accomplish that.
Committee Hearing:
Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, and Data Security
Major Votes:
  • Adoption of S.J.Res.29, Braun joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval of the Biden Vaccine Mandate
    • Supported
    • Every weekend, when I am back in Wyoming, people approach me concerned about how President Biden’s vaccine mandates could affect them. I am vaccinated, and I encourage people around Wyoming to talk to their doctors about getting the vaccine, but they should not be forced to do so by a federal mandate.
  • House Amendment to S. 610 – Medicare Protection Bill and Procedural vote to increase the debt ceiling
    • Opposed
    • Democrats politicized what should have been a simple consideration of Medicare funding for people in Wyoming and the rest of the country by adding a provision that would help them raise the debt ceiling. Wyoming’s rural hospitals and clinics need all the support we can provide them. But we shouldn’t be bankrupting our country for future generations, and Democrats chose to make this a vote to do so.
WORKING IN WYOMING
In State Focus:
  • President Biden’s reckless-tax-and-spend plan, “Build Back Better,” is a disaster for the people of Wyoming. It is the largest expansion of government in recent history and will put the government at the center of every American’s life. This week, Democrats in the Senate prepared to move their plan and want to push this bill through before Christmas. I will continue fighting to make sure that our way of life is not compromised by this attempt to insert the federal government into more areas of our lives.
News Around Wyoming:

Wyoming News Now
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Acting State Director Janice Blare announced the Department is investing over $1.77 million to reduce the impacts of climate change on rural Wyoming communities.

Cowboy State Daily
A declining unemployment rate is one of several indicators offering hope that Wyoming’s economy is on the road to pre-pandemic strength.

This week, America lost a hero when former Senator Bob Dole passed away. Bob Dole was an incredible public servant whose service to the American people in the military and in Congress left an indelible mark on our country, particularly for our veterans. I had the opportunity to pay my respects and say a goodbye to someone who made America a better place. I continue to pray for his wife Elizabeth and daughter Robin at this time.

WYOMING SHOUT OUT
Thirty-two women were acknowledged for their work in the STEM field at the University of Wyoming’s Own It! awards in November. The event, which has been running for six years, seeks to raise the profile of women in STEM and encourage more women to participate in STEM fields.
