Dear John,

Imagine a society in which we're not losing millions of people to mass incarceration.

How do we get there?

✔We treat kids like kids. We prioritize opportunity, not punishment. Instead of charging children as adults and locking them up for decades, we offer resources for mental health, education, skill development, and treatment needs.

✔We eliminate mandatory minimums, cap sentences, and give second looks. We consider people's mental health status, history of trauma, and treatment needs when determining their sentences and encourage their rehabilitation and reintegration.

✔We guarantee the right to vote for all citizens - including people in prison and jail. Despite being in prison, people remain civically engaged through the election process and have a voice in who should represent them and their interests.

Don’t you want to live in this world?

You can help us get there with a donation, and from now until December 31, your gift will be matched by a generous donor, up to $20,000!

Each of our three focuses—promoting youth justice, eliminating extreme sentences, and expanding voting rights—works together to promote racial justice and end mass incarceration.

When you donate to The Sentencing Project, you help us move closer to a more fair and effective criminal legal system.

Onwards,

P.S. Right now, millions of incarcerated Americans are dreaming of a better world. Please donate today to show them that there is hope.
