John,
This morning, the Supreme Court struck down the federal government’s challenge to SB 8 — the 6-week abortion ban in Texas.
While they've allowed clinics to pursue legal challenges to the law, the Court gutlessly punted the opportunity to protect the constitutional right to an abortion. Just because the Supreme Court rightfully allowed clinics to challenge SB 8 does not make abortion access safe.
And by even agreeing to hear this case, they continue to move the goal post.
John, take action and stand with us to send a message to keep these abortion bans off our bodies.
Every day this ban stands, it has real consequences for patients not just in Texas — the case around Mississippi’s 15-week ban is now sounding more and more like a compromise.
But we cannot — and we will not — compromise on the fundamental right to abortion, no matter how determined the Supreme Court is to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Laws and bans like this one will continue cropping up, and legislatures will continue to push to pass the most restrictive bans that the Supreme Court will endorse.
Abortion is, and will be, under threat until we can elect state and local prochoice champions to stop these bans at the source and to protect and expand abortion access.
Stand with us and help us take action to elect prochoice champions by adding your name here.
This country has an expansive prochoice majority, and it’s time we organize and vote to make our state and local governments reflect that reality.
In solidarity,
