Reversing this decades-long strategy won’t be easy, but it’s crucial

Indivisibles,

Last week’s Supreme Court arguments on Mississippi’s horrific 15-week abortion ban made it clearer than ever that the ultra-conservative justices on the bench are gearing up to gut or overturn Roe v. Wade. Then just this morning, the court allowed the case against the horrific Texas abortion law to proceed -- and once again declined to pause the law in the meantime. These attacks on reproductive rights are unacceptable -- and we need to fight back.

Our two big pieces of work to stop them are happening now. We’re pushing Senate Democrats to end the filibuster and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), which would enshrine abortion access in federal law and prevent states from denying access. And we’re working to unrig the courts and reverse the partisan takeover that led us here by expanding the Supreme Court.

Doing all this means we’re paying to keep our calling and web tools active, plus cosponsoring events, doing research, and more. We need your help to keep all this work moving and protect the right to abortion and the right to choose. Can you donate $10 today to fund everything we’re doing to resist unelected extremists on the Court and protect all our most fundamental rights?

This extremist takeover of the Supreme Court has been literally decades in the making. The GOP has been systematically investing in the courts, from the local to the federal level, for years -- and they did it with the ultimate goal of rolling back decades of progress. Now that they’ve got the conservative majority they need, these attacks on Roe are just the beginning.

We might not be able to exert direct influence on the justices -- we’re not mega-wealthy donors, after all -- but we can still make an impact on this. Our role has always been to make sure the government listens to the people it represents. We can start with demanding the Senate pass the WHPA by any means necessary, including removing the filibuster (you can click here to call your senators and demand they support the WHPA!). And reforming the courts to undo all the partisan influence and restore balance and integrity will be crucial to ensure this doesn’t keep happening.

Fighting back against this decades-long strategy won’t be easy, but it’s crucial to maintaining and expanding the rights that everyone deserves. We’re counting on your support to make it happen. Thank you.

In solidarity,
