Dear John,

As 2021 comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on this past year and express my deep gratitude for your support of the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) and for showing up for immigrants in our communities.

This year presented a number of hardships for many of us, as we continued to brave the pandemic and fight for racial justice amid ongoing violence against Black, Brown, and Indigenous people. But, despite these challenges, you took the time to advocate for others and never stopped fighting for what you believe in.

In honor of Human Rights Day today, I want to thank you for doing your part in standing with your immigrant neighbors and making your community a welcoming one for everyone. It’s inspiring to see people like you who are willing to step up to defend the rights of others and speak out against injustice.

Thanks to you, we won freedom for 129 people from immigration jails since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We empowered community members and partners with the tools to advocate for themselves, as we hosted Know Your Rights presentations and informational sessions for more than 24,000 people. With your help, NIJC won a lawsuit against ICE for unlawfully detaining immigrant youth, held the U.S. government accountable for separating families at the border, and started to bring people who were unjustly deported back home to reunite with their families and communities.

See more about these victories on our blog at www.immigrantjustice.org/HumanRights2021

You can read about these and many more victories for human rights in the past year and the impact they have had on the thousands of immigrants who have received legal aid from NIJC on our blog at: www.immigrantjustice.org/HumanRights2021

On behalf of the NIJC team and the people we serve, we thank you for defending human rights and supporting immigrants and people seeking asylum. We wish you and all your loved ones a happy, and safe, holiday season.
