Boozman Bulletin

Good morning,

Thank you for reading the Boozman Bulletin and learning how I'm serving Arkansans.

Senate Strikes Down Biden Vaccine Mandate

I voted in support of a resolution to eliminate the COVID-19 mandate President Biden has sought to impose on private companies with 100 or more employees. The resolution received bipartisan support and now heads to the House of Representatives for a vote.

An unelected bureaucracy like the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)  does not have the authority to require private businesses to enforce vaccination among employees. This decree from the Biden administration was always unwise and unworkable.

I talked about this overreach and why this must be stopped in a press conference on Tuesday.

I was proud to cosponsor the Congressional Review Act resolution, which permits Congress to oversee the federal regulatory process by allowing it to review and potentially revoke, through a resolution of disapproval, rules that substantively affect the American people.

Additionally, on November 12, 2021 the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit halted OSHA’s enforcement of the agency’s COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard that was set to take full effect on January 4, 2022. Despite this rebuke, the Biden administration continues to stand by its edict, pledging to defend it in court and implement it with a heavy hand if approved.

Fighting Against Reckless Tax-and-Spending

I’m continuing the fight against the president’s reckless tax-and-spending bill. The Congressional Budget Office says this spending spree will increase the federal deficit by $367 billion, which is far from the $0 cost the president and Democratic leaders had promised.

Arkansas families are facing higher prices for food, energy and everyday essentials because of inflation. This morning the Associated Press reported inflation is the worst in almost 40 years. The president's agenda ignores the challenges Americans are experiencing. Instead of focusing on providing relief to families, the president is doubling down on progressive policies that force citizens to fork over more of their hard-earned money to Uncle Sam. This approach will continue fueling inflation.

The American people realize the president’s proposals are out of step with their concerns. I will continue to reject this partisan agenda.

Standing for Life

Last week marked a pivotal moment in the Right to Life movement as the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a historic case that represents a significant challenge to Roe v. Wade. I’m hopeful the court can right the wrong made nearly 50 years ago and keep the federal government from stopping pro-life laws that safeguard defenseless children in the womb from a death sentence.

I joined supporters of life who rallied out in front of the Court before and during the oral arguments in this case. I met Arkansans who traveled to the nation’s capital to lend their voices to this essential cause. It was encouraging to be with these passionate individuals who care deeply about this issue.

In my most recent column, I wrote about what it would mean if the nation’s highest court struck down Roe v. Wade.

Recovering America’s Wildlife Act

I’ve heard from many Arkansans about the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, legislation that would safeguard the long-term health of fish and wildlife habitat in the Natural State and all across the country.

One of the reasons I am proud to be a cosponsor of this legislation is because it would provide on-the-ground actors, such as farmers and ranchers, conservation organizations, state authorities and tribal governments, with the resources they need to pursue collaborative conservation efforts in their regions. I was proud to advocate for this legislation in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing this week.

This legislation would make Arkansas eligible for more than $15 million annually to fund habitat restoration and conservation. Wildlife agencies across the country have identified more than 12,000 species in greatest need of conservation assistance. Arkansas is home to 377 of those endangered and threatened wildlife.

The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act is supported by more than 1,500 organizations including the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited and the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation.
