In ‘Stunning Turnaround,’ Proposal to Draft Women Removed from Defense Bill
By: Zachary Mettler
A proposal to require women to register for the draft has been removed from the defense bill currently being considered by the U.S. Senate.
The removal of the provision has been described as a “stunning turnaround,” since the proposal had received substantial bipartisan support.
Following a recommendation in 2020 by a congressionally enacted commission to extend the draft to women, the Senate Armed Services Committee included the following provision in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 (NDAA): “[amend] the Military Selective Service Act to require the registration of women for Selective Service.”
The provision received bipartisan support, with all of the committee’s Democrat members and a majority of the Republican members voting in favor of the amendment; of the 26 committee members, only 5 Republicans voted against the proposal.

Tim Keller Has Taught Us How to Live. Now He’s Teaching Us How to Die.
By: Paul Batura
Last week, the Reverend Dr. Timothy Keller, the beloved pastor and bestselling author, seemed to almost be reminding his followers on social media of the highly aggressive and notoriously deadly health diagnosis he received just over 18 months ago:
“I have Stage IV pancreatic cancer,” he tweeted. “But it is endlessly comforting to have a God who is both infinitely more wise and more loving than I am. He has plenty of good reasons for everything He does and allows that I cannot know, and therein is my hope and strength.”
After being inundated with promises of prayer and responses of concern, Dr. Keller tweeted again:
“I deeply appreciate prayer for my situation! But my main purpose in the last post was to show that having a God who in some ways is beyond our comprehension (esp regarding evil and suffering) is more of a spiritual strength than it is an intellectual problem.”
Retired from his duties as founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Rev. Keller has continued to write, teach and speak on a wide range of subjects with his trademark wisdom and insight. If not for the occasional tweet or reference to his rollercoaster health journey, a casual follower of the pastor may have even forgotten he’s navigating the treacherous and daunting disease.

A Conversation on Race and the Importance of Family in America with Professor Glenn Loury
By: The Daily Citizen
Suppose you had the opportunity to personally invite one of the most brilliant African-American scholars into your living room this evening and listen as he details why our current political and national discussion on race and family is so damaging to the lives and minds of our children.
Well, you do, thanks to the creative generosity of Stanford University’s esteemed Hoover Institution.
In late November 2021, the great Glenn Loury, a celebrated professor of social science and economics at Brown University, and a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution, sat down for a riveting one-on-one with Peter Robinson to discuss the current state of affairs in racial politics and the family in American today.
Robinson introduced Dr. Loury as a man who “traveled great distances.” He was not just speaking geographically, but socio-economically. Glenn Loury grew up very poor on the South Side of Chicago, became an unwed father in his teens, and was involved in drugs, but went on to earn a Ph.D. from MIT and become a tenured professor of economics at Harvard at 33.
The 40-minute interview would be a great exchange of important ideas to share with your young adult children and grand-children.

Allowing Transgender Women to Compete Against Biological Women in Sports is Anti-Woman

By: Nicole Hunt
Biological female athletes are being robbed of athletic titles, scholarships, and future sporting opportunities because they are being forced to compete against biological males who believe they are females in the name of transgender inclusion.
The madness has got to stop. Enough is enough.
Biological men should not be allowed to compete against biological females. It’s anti-reality, anti-science and anti-woman.
The stories of injustices being committed against biological women in sports abound. Every month there seems to be another account of a transgender woman, a biological male who believes he is a woman, beating out a biological woman in an athletic competition.
Recently a biological male was allowed to compete against biological females at a college swim invitational. Lia Thomas (formerly Will) competed for three years on the men’s NCAA Division I swim team at the University of Pennsylvania.

Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court Issues Final Report, Sidesteps Court-Packing and Term Limits
By: Bruce Hausknecht
Last April, President Joe Biden issued Executive Order 14023 establishing a Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court, whose purpose was to review various proposals for reforms at the U.S. Supreme Court and other federal courts, and to make recommendations to the president.
The Executive Order was promised by then-candidate Biden in October 2020 during a CBS “60 Minutes” interview after Justice Amy Coney Barrett was nominated to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Biden was responding to calls from his political base to pack the court with additional justices to counter what the Left perceived was a shift in the ideological balance of the court.
That final 294-page report is now in, and the Commission takes no position on the most controversial proposal under consideration – packing the court with additional justices.
