A few weekends ago I had the privilege of joining many of my fellow Oregon Democrats at our biennial Summit in beautiful Central Oregon.

It's a chance to talk about what we Democrats are doing to look after our fellow Oregonians, to hear inspirational speakers, and to recommit ourselves to the critical work ahead.

On the opening night I hosted a fun karaoke event. (Can we Dems ever sing and dance!) And, on a more serious note, the next day I moderated a moving and informative panel on cutting edge criminal justice reforms, including my office's plans for implementing the new hate crimes laws.

The Summit is also an opportunity to thank our grassroots volunteers who serve as "neighborhood leaders" throughout the state and who pound the pavement to get out the vote. Special congrats to Mark and Adele Cerny, who were honored for Excellence in Rural Organizing for their tireless and fearless efforts to organize and elect Democrats in Eastern Oregon and Grant County – one of Oregon's reddest counties. Without grassroots efforts like Mark's and Adele's, we would not have had the success we had in 2018 – and will have in 2020!

I was also honored to accept the Roosevelt Award at Saturday night's banquet for my work leading America's attorneys general in the fight against the multitude of unconstitutional actions being undertaken by the Trump Administration.

Each Summit also provides a critical reminder, John – to remember we are all in this together.

As your Attorney General I will continue to fight every day to protect Oregonians and the Rule of Law from federal overreach. But this is also about a movement. We Democrats represent a movement that has come together to fight for a hugely important cause – the common good of America.

We have one year to go until the 2020 election. One year to grow our grassroots movement in every corner of Oregon and America. One year to win BIG!

This is what I try to remember every day I serve as Oregon's Attorney General: Each of us cannot go it alone. We cannot do this without each other.

So let's stand together for acceptance, love, and justice. If we do that, the current Administration stands no chance against us.
