Friend,

Imagine having to flee your home at a moment's notice, not knowing where you or your children will sleep. Now imagine living in a tent in a park. Temperatures dip into the 20s at night and you have no way to keep warm. For many Afghans, this is a daily reality.

The reports from our teams in Afghanistan are truly troubling. Winter conditions are getting worse and displaced families are struggling to access adequate food and supplies. 23 million people are facing food insecurity, 9 million are on the brink of famine, and 1 million children could die if they don't receive immediate treatment for malnutrition.

Our teams are working around the clock to help displaced families access food, warm clothing, medical care and more to survive the winter — but they need your support, in Afghanistan and other crisis zones.

The IRC has been delivering aid in Afghanistan for over three decades, and we will stay through this crisis too. From supporting underequipped health clinics, to treating children for acute malnutrition, to ensuring families have enough coats, boots, hats and gloves to weather the cold — our teams are on the ground delivering continuing care as long as it's needed.

Monthly gifts are the backbone of our work. Thanks to the reliable support of monthly donors, we're not just there when a disaster happens — we're there day in and day out for families facing conflict and crisis.

You stepped up last month to maximize your impact for children and families in crisis. Now, we're hoping you'll take the next step with a monthly gift to ensure your generosity this holiday season will be felt year-round. Refugees and displaced families don't need help just one day a year, or even one month a year. People impacted by war, violence and persecution — in crisis zones like Afghanistan, for example — need to know they can count on us... every day of every month… all year long.

Monthly donations help our staff provide continuing support to refugees and displaced families so they can survive, recover and rebuild their lives.

Setting up your monthly gift takes just a moment, and if you join this exclusive group of our most loyal and reliable supporters, we'll make sure you receive frequent updates about the difference you're making for children and families in crisis. Friend, can we count on you to be one of 121 new monthly donors to step up in this moment of exceptional need?
