Dear John, Over the last several months, you may have noticed some differences in the communications coming from Human Coalition. And today, I want to bring you in on one of the biggest changes: Human Coalition’s mission statement. First, to make abortion unthinkable acknowledges that ending abortion requires culture change. For you and me, abortion is already unthinkable. But for our culture, abortion isn’t just acceptable, it’s celebrated. To our culture, preborn children aren’t human beings created in the image of God. They are just “clumps of cells” or “pregnancy tissue.” And the deadly procedure of abortion is seen as a “fundamental human right.” The truth is, we can’t rely only on laws to end abortion. Even if Roe v. Wade were overturned and Congress outlawed the procedure tomorrow, abortion would still be a problem in this country. Second, to make abortion unnecessary acknowledges that ending abortion requires caring for the entire family, in addition to the child. We have found that 76% of women who come to Human Coalition seeking an abortion would “prefer to parent” if their life circumstances were different. Human Coalition’s Continuum of Care program is critical to addressing this problem. Through this program, entire families have the opportunity to receive expert assistance to address their physical, emotional, and tangible needs. So often, when these needs are met, moms and families can begin to see past the mountain of obstacles in front of them to the hope that’s on the other side. I know that this mission may seem daunting, but thanks to YOUR prayers and support over the years, there has already been so much progress. Your support has built a National Rescue System that reaches vulnerable moms, rescues innocent preborn children, and restores families to stability in some of the most abortion-dense cities in America.
