John, I wish I didn’t have to ask you for money.
But I’m running for one of the most flippable seats in the country. Winning hinges on having the resources to reach as many voters as possible, and right now I’m trailing behind my Republican opponent's $260,000 fundraising lead. I’m an everyday person and I can’t bankroll my campaign, so I’m asking: will you chip in $5 before midnight? I need 722 gifts before the end of the year to hit my fundraising goal, and it’s going to be a race to the finish. >> [[link removed]]
John, let me explain how I know everyday people, like you and me, can win this race.
Growing up, my family didn’t have money.
We struggled to make ends meet.
When I told my parents I was running for office, they didn’t believe I could win.
You see, they’re originally from Perú, where only the elite run for office.
But I knew I could win and prove to them that America is different.
That was a really tough race. But I won because grassroots supporters like you believed we needed more everyday people in office. We showed everyone that you don’t have to have a personal fortune to get elected -- and now I need your help to do it again. I’m up against my final fundraising deadline before the election year, and I need 722 gifts to hit my goal and catch up to my Republican opponent. Can I count on you to help push me over the finish line? >> [[link removed]]
John, I know the tough choices everyday Americans face.
I know what it’s like to live without a safety net.
I know what it’s like to maybe not have the money to donate today.
But I promise that in Congress, I will fight for everyday people like us.
(Unlike my current Congressman, who left us behind when he voted to cut taxes for billionaires and corporations.)
That’s why I don’t like asking you for your hard-earned money.
But if I didn’t at least try, we would never have a shot at winning this race.
I am so grateful for the support you’ve shown me. I know money around this time of year can be tough. But I also know that if we all band together, we can defy the odds and win this race for everyday folks across the country -- just like we’ve done before. John, can I count on your $5 before my final deadline of the year to help me get there?

Tony Vargas is a State Senator, public school teacher, and Dad running to represent Nebraska’s Second Congressional District and unseat Republican Don Bacon.
This fight is personal. The American Dream made Tony’s story possible. He refuses to sit on the sidelines while others struggle to achieve the same dream.
This fight is also high stakes. Joe Biden won the presidency because of Nebraska. Now, Tony’s fighting to finish what he started and flip this district blue.
Tony is proud to be endorsed by 314 Action Fund, BOLD Democrats, and Latino Victory Fund.
Email is the best way for Tony to keep his supporters up-to-date with happenings from the campaign trail. We know we send a lot of fundraising emails -- but that’s because his campaign is fueled by grassroots donations from folks like you.
