John,

Today, the New York City Council overwhelmingly voted to pass Intro 1867, with 33 Council Members supporting the bill. While some states across the country are restricting access to the ballot, NYC is extending the right to vote to nearly one million New Yorkers, making this the largest expansion of voting rights in a generation. Thanks to the work of our members and partners, immigrant New Yorkers with legal permanent residence status or work authorization will finally have a voice in our democracy.

Until now, these New Yorkers were silenced on the important issues impacting their lives—from the quality of their schools to public safety in their communities. Intro 1867 recognizes immigrant New Yorkers as integral to the fabric of our city. Now, they will no longer be relegated to the sidelines of our government. With the passage of Our City, Our Vote, immigrants will finally gain true representation in the halls of power.

Make A Donation to Keep Powering Our Campaigns!
This campaign wouldn’t have been possible without supporters like you. Your donations help power our campaigns for immigrants across our city, state, and beyond. While we’ve won voting rights in New York City, our work is far from over. Immigrants continue to be under attack across our country—while our communities remain vulnerable to politically-driven decisions, it’s up to us to advocate for justice and equity.

Are you ready to join us as we keep up the fight for immigrant rights?

In power,

Murad Awawdeh
