I'm beyond outraged, John —
Last week, a teen gunman killed four children at their high school in Oxford, MI. More reports of children bringing guns to school have emerged since then. And instead of taking action against this heinous gun violence, lawmakers are making children's access to deadly weapons the joke of the internet.

John, you know as well as I do that our country’s gun violence epidemic is far more than a punchline. We are talking about lives – about family members who won’t be with us this holiday season. This is about my daughter, Jaime, who isn’t here because a gunman killed her and 16 other victims in Parkland, FL.

The teenage gunman who killed my daughter was inspired by photos just like this one. He looked up to political figures like Rep. Boebert and their absurd fetishization of firearms. He used the weapons pictured – an AR-15 – to kill 17 people at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas.

Make no mistake, this “joke” at the expense of gun violence victims, like those murdered at Oxford High School, will breed more gun violence and spread more tragedy. I know the majority of Americans, gun owners or otherwise, don’t support these reckless actions. We must remind Congress what the majority of Americans want: Weapons of war out of our homes and off our streets. Please, will you join me and sign our petition calling for a ban on these deadly assault weapons?

It’s time to ban these weapons that are quite literally designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Will you add your name now and call on Congress to ban assault weapons now?
Thank you.
