CF Foundation Invests in Potential Antifungal Treatment for Lung Transplant Recipients
This week, we announced an investment of $3.5 million in Pulmocide ([link removed]) for the development of a potential inhaled antifungal treatment to prevent aspergillus in people with cystic fibrosis who have had a lung transplant. If successful, the treatment could eventually benefit anyone with CF with an aspergillus infection.

Three Awards Granted for Genetic Therapies Research

We awarded more than $1.8 million to three companies ([link removed]) for early-stage research into potential genetic therapies for cystic fibrosis as part of our Path to a Cure initiative, an ambitious research agenda to accelerate treatments and drug development for the underlying cause of CF, and ultimately deliver a cure.

Flu Shots Remain Important as Cases Increase
Although the number of flu cases is low nationally, it has been increasing in recent weeks. Most cases have been influenza A (H3N2), which can cause more hospitalizations and deaths among those 65 years and older. Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself ([link removed]), and the CDC recommends everyone older than 6 months get a flu shot.
