Friend,
Our country is at a crossroads. If we take one path, I'm afraid the end result will leave voters without a meaningful say in our government. That's the path too many Republicans are leading us down right now by using map manipulation and voter suppression tactics to secure their power and weaken our democracy.
But there's another path -- one where Americans fight back against the coordinated efforts to diminish their votes and the brazen power grabs by many in the GOP in state after state. The NDRC is working to forge this path. But we can't do it alone -- all of our work, all of our successes, depends on the power of a mass movement.
And so I'm asking you today, team, to pitch in to help us keep up the fight. Time is running out to prevent Republicans from gerrymandering and restricting the freedom to vote.
As challenging and troubling as this moment is, I'm very hopeful -- because I see our hard work paying off. Independent redistricting commissions that we supported are producing fair maps. Governors who we helped elect are vetoing or will veto gerrymanders. And people in states across the country are rising up to demand fair districts, fair representation, and the freedom to vote.
Our movement is strong, and it's our collective job to keep it that way. I've fought for the right to vote, and for everyone's vote to count equally, for my entire career in public service -- and you better believe I'm not going to stop now just because things are tough. I'm counting on the fact that you feel the same way.
