A few weeks ago, a video went viral of Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert spewing bigoted and Islamophobic remarks.
Charles understands that comments like this have no place in Congress. Dangerous, hateful behavior like Boebert’s has no place in our society. Left unchecked, comments like this will only embolden further violence and bigotry.
The unfortunate thing is this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Islamophobia and bigotry in the halls of Congress.
Representatives like Cori Bush have described Capitol Hill as a toxic work environment for Muslim members and staff — a place where Islamophobia goes unchecked with no consequences. It’s an urgent reminder of why we’re fighting so hard to send Charles to D.C. and of our agenda to bring love, compassion, and justice back to politics.
Lauren Boebert weaponized racism and anti-Muslim hate for likes. We can’t stand by while our Muslim loved ones are attacked. This can’t continue; her actions must be met with consequences.
