Child Tax Credit payments are at risk unless Congress acts soon. No images? Click here As the year winds down, so does the countdown for Congress to extend critical monthly payments to low-income children, families and childless workers. Last month, the House passed the long-anticipated Build Back Better Act (BBBA). This bill extends the expanded Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit, allows funding for affordable housing and closing racial homeownership gaps, and provides support for small businesses of color, among other things. The IRS has reported that they cannot guarantee continuity of the advance monthly Child Tax Credit payments unless BBBA is passed by December 28. The Senate must act quickly for millions of families to continue receiving their critical monthly payments after December 15. We recently sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer urging him to pass the House version of BBBA and extend Child Tax Credit payments, including for immigrant children and without burdensome work requirements. Now, we need your voice to urge the Senate to act. Thank you for taking a stand and fighting for economic security for all families. For any questions, please contact us at [email protected]. |
