Friend of Israel,

On July 25, 2000, Yasser Arafat walked away from a Camp David peace deal that would have given the Palestinians 95 percent of the West Bank, 100 percent of Gaza, and much of East Jerusalem.

Since that time:
Israelis have endured more than 18,000 rockets and mortars fired at their homes, synagogues and schools.

Terrorists have carried out more than 105 suicide bombings in buses, restaurants, markets and more.

There have been 429 terrorist shootings...225 knife and axe attacks...74 vehicular ramming attacks...2,600 arson kites and balloon bombs sent over the border...50 attempts to infiltrate Israel via underground terror tunnels...and 15 kidnappings.

Yet, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign BLAMES ONLY ISRAEL and discriminates against the Jewish state.

Now we have a chance to make a meaningful statement about BDS as the House and Senate consider bipartisan resolutions that will put Congress on record opposing this discriminatory campaign against Israel.

We need your help to expose not only the extremism but also the hypocrisy of BDS.

BDS supporters ignore the regrettable actions of the Palestinian Authority which have made peace, and a better path for Palestinians, harder to achieve.
They ignore that PA President Mahmoud Abbas has for years refused to accept any Israeli offer for peace, and that today, the Palestinians are boycotting American and Israeli officials.

They ignore the ongoing attacks against Israelis or that PA leaders financially support the terrorists who commit them.

They ignore that the leaders of BDS have said they want Israel destroyed. “Most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine.” -Omar Barghouti, BDS Co-Founder.

BDS supporters say they are for “human rights,” yet they ignore the human rights abuses perpetrated by Palestinian leaders against their own people.
They ignore Hamas’ continued use of Gazan civilians as human shields, including the firing of rockets from hospitals and schools.

They ignore the violent crackdown against Palestinians protesting dire living conditions in Gaza caused by Hamas.

They ignore that money and resources sent into Gaza to improve Palestinian lives is instead stolen by Hamas and used for weapons and building tunnels.
The hypocrisy of the BDS campaign against Israel can be especially seen at the United Nations, where agencies like the U.N. Human Rights Council (UNHRC) have long records of hostility toward Israel.

Since its inception in 2006, the UNHRC has passed 83 resolutions condemning Israel, more than all other nations combined. It has now compiled a blacklist of 22 American companies doing business in Israel and is moving toward a boycott of those firms.

Other U.N. bodies have absurdly characterized Israel as the world’s  leading abuser of women’s rights, labor rights, even mental health.

This is all part of the double standards and hypocrisy the Jewish state routinely faces.

Your support will empower us to continue working on both sides of the aisle in opposition to the damaging BDS campaign.

Sincerely,
Brian Shankman
