Make absolutely no mistake about it, Ron Johnson and Wisconsin Republicans know just how important it is that people have the right to vote and hold their elected leaders accountable.

That is why they have been working so hard to take it away.

First, they create campaign finance laws that empower the rich and powerful to buy our elections.

Then when people turn out in record numbers, they make it harder for people to vote. And they draw the districts so that it is legislators picking their voters instead of the voters picking their elected officials.

And now you even have Ron Johnson telling state lawmakers to ignore the work of the bipartisan Elections Commission and just put the Republican-controlled state legislature in charge of federal elections, conveniently in time for his re-election.

The foundation of our democracy is under attack, not just in Wisconsin, but nationally.

So today, I am releasing my plan to protect and strengthen our democracy — one I will fight for as a top priority in the Senate. Here’s what it entails:

- Pass a new Voting Rights Act
- Stop the wealthy from buying elections
- End partisan gerrymandering
- Strengthen ethics rules for federal officials
- Enhance election security
- End the filibuster

But the truth is, we will never strengthen or protect our democracy unless we all make our voices heard. And that starts with adding your name:
