Like many voters, I fought to elect a pro-immigrant president last November

Like many voters, I fought to elect a pro-immigrant president last November. But
here we are a year later, and our elected leaders have not delivered on their
promise of enacting a pathway to citizenship. Instead, they are deferring to an
unelected advisor – the Senate parliamentarian – who is standing in the way of
citizenship for the broadest group possible.

The National Immigration Law Center has fought for decades to secure a pathway
to citizenship for the millions of undocumented immigrants who are contributing
so much to our communities. For decades, we’ve been told that it wasn’t
feasible, or the timing wasn’t right. But the time is NOW. With Democratic
majorities in both chambers of Congress, President Biden can deliver on his
promise of a pathway to citizenship.

Give today to fuel the work for citizenship
[[link removed]]As we approach the end of the year, everything is at stake. Congress will either
make good on their promises or leave us with more excuses about why it couldn’t
be done. But at the National Immigration Law Center, we are pushing Congress to
deliver a pathway to citizenship before the end of the year.

While we had hoped to already be celebrating a legislative win instead of asking
you to fuel our continued fight for citizenship, we need to keep up the pressure
and press ahead until the promises made last election are a reality. Give today,
so we can fight (and celebrate!) tomorrow.

In solidarity,

Avideh Moussavian,
Director of Federal Advocacy
