Welcome to Thursday, December 9th, pachinkos and pinballs…

The U.S. has rejected calls for a ban on "killer robots."

During a recent United Nations meeting in Geneva, U.S. official Josh Dorosin opposed any binding legal instruments to limit the use of autonomous weapons, instead proposing a “non-binding code of conduct."

The Human Rights Watch has called autonomous weapons “one of the most alarming military technologies under development today” which would “raise a host of moral, legal, accountability, operational, technical, and security concerns.”

Do you think the U.S. should ban autonomous weapons?

Australia, Britain, & Canada Join Boycott of Beijing Olympics

Three of America's closest allies ― Australia, Britain, and Canada ― have announced that they will join the U.S. in a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics next year over China's human rights violations and its belligerence toward Taiwan.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the move Wednesday and said:

"I'm doing it because it's in Australia's national interest... It's the right thing to do."

America’s diplomatic boycott may be joined by other U.S. allies and partners that share an interest in holding China accountable for its crimes against humanity in Xinjiang, in addition to its belligerence against pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, the nation of Taiwan, and in the South China Sea.

Do you support or oppose the U.S. diplomatic boycott of China’s Beijing Winter Olympics?

M4CJ x WinTogether: Charitable Sweepstakes

While the U.S, China, and European Union are responsible for over 40% of total global emissions each year, the environmental burden often falls on those with fewer resources or power. Indigenous communities are among the first to face the direct consequences of climate change, according to the United Nations.

Climate change is fundamentally an issue of human rights and environmental justice, and Music4ClimateJustice is committed to raising awareness, impacting climate legislation, and investing in the best climate projects and organizations.

If you want to make a difference and help Indigenous communities in the fight against climate change, consider supporting M4CJ--by donating, you'll also be entered to win an eco-trip to Belize.

And, In The End...

Save the drama for your National Llama Day.

Never saw any llamas when you were a kid? That's because the U.S. banned llama imports in the 1930s over disease outbreaks. The ban was lifted in 1984 for the Chilean variety, and they've been providing wool and never-ending-chewing since.
