Last week, we witnessed another community change forever after a gunman entered a high school in Michigan and killed four people – and as this community grieved, a Kentucky lawmaker had the audacity to send this Christmas card:
John, you know as well as I do that our country’s gun violence epidemic is far more than a punchline. We are talking about lives – about family members who will be missing from Christmas cards because they were gunned down.
These are weapons designed for mass destruction – military-style AR-15 assault rifles are quite literally designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. We should not allow these weapons to be carried in our streets. We should not celebrate them on holiday cards.
