Allowing individuals with long-standing ties to the U.S. to access relief from the fear of deportation would help keep millions of American families together. We need the Senate to keep relief for our immigrant neighbors in the Build Back Better Act which was passed by the House.

John,
Today is a national day of action to demand the Senate preserve essential immigration provisions which are currently in the Build Back Better legislation that was passed by the U.S. House. As our allies are meeting with senators and their staff, fighting for immigration reform, we are deploying our grassroots power, sending messages directly to Senate offices.
Can you take a moment and send a letter to your senators and demand they include essential immigration provisions in the Build Back Better Act? (We have already drafted a message for you, so it’ll only take a moment.)
Immigration provisions currently in the Build Back Better Act would create protections for 7 million Dreamers and undocumented immigrants who have lived in the United States for more than 10 years.
But the number of people positively impacted by this critical legislation is even greater. More than 17 million Americans live in households with at least one individual who would benefit from relief in the Build Back Better Act.
This policy would begin the process of honoring immigrants who have contributed so much to our country. The main provisions are:
-
Protection from deportation, keeping millions of families across the U.S. together.
-
Long-term work permits to support the families of immigrants, allowing people to more fully participate in their communities.
-
Life-saving health care, to keep all our families and communities healthy.
-
Ability to travel abroad to see family they have been separated from, often for decades.
These immigration reform provisions already included in the historic Build Back Better legislation enjoy strong public support across the political spectrum. In fact, they are supported by 75% of Americans. That includes nearly 6 out of 10 Republicans.
The public wants action, not more excuses from Congress. Tell your senators to act by sending a message today. Tell them millions of people are counting on the protections for immigrants included in the Build Back Better Act!
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to strengthen our democracy to fight for the needs of working families, the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
