Wind power is the way of the future. That's why I've introduced a bill to continue to increase investment in wind energy. Will you be a citizen co-sponsor for my bill?
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Tackling our climate crisis requires serious, quick, and bold action.
That's why I'm writing to you today -- I’ve just introduced a bipartisan bill to increase investments in wind energy, so Minnesota can keep leading the U.S. in this industry and so we can set our country back on course to be a leader in addressing climate change.
This bill - the Wind Energy Research and Development Act - will expand the resources available for wind energy development and make the adoption of this clean energy source more accessible. This is the action we need to address climate change.
If we're going to prioritize action on climate change, we've got to work together.
I'm proud that Minnesota is already leading the way. Right now, Minnesota gets nearly 20% of the state's energy from wind power -- that's over a million homes powered by clean energy. It's time for the rest of the country to follow our lead.
But this fight isn't easy -- it's why we must work together to save our planet from irreversible damage. With continual investments in clean energy, we can keep growing the industry and expanding economic opportunities in rural communities -- all positioning the United States to be a leader in tackling the climate crisis.
U.S. Senator Tina Smith is running for re-election in 2020 in a race NBC News has already labeled a “race to watch” with Donald Trump targeting Minnesota for victory. Make sure she has the resources to fight back.
