The Freedom to Vote Act is neither “unconstitutional” nor “rotten.” It will empower voters by banning congressional partisan gerrymandering and expanding voting rights. But you wouldn’t know that from some of the latest headlines and segments in conservative media.

We believe the goal of networks like Fox News and One America News is to scare voters and stoke the flames of division to make commonsense legislation sound extreme.

That’s why it came as no surprise to us when One America News invited an “expert” to talk about the “constitutionality” of the Freedom to Vote Act. The so-called expert is running for office in Georgia as a Republican and served as a senior official in the Trump Administration.

One America News has a history of exaggerating, spreading falsehoods, and inviting fake experts on their show to advance their narrative. In fact, the network lied about COVID-19, the January 6 insurrection, and even the 2020 election.

Now, they’re taking aim at the Freedom to Vote Act. It’s probably because their favorite conservative, extreme politicians will have a hard time getting elected if we end gerrymandering and voter suppression.
