My heart breaks for the people mourning after this latest shooting in Michigan.

There isn’t a more common sense solution than safe storage of guns. There also isn’t a more powerful grassroots movement than this one. When we work together, we can move mountains. 

We still don’t have your name added to this petition, and I really need your help. If even one life is saved, our work will be worth it, and the research shows that it won’t be one life...it’ll save thousands.

As a gun violence prevention organizer, there is no greater pain than the conversation with the loved one of someone who is dead because of legislative inaction. So much of my work is knowing that our legislators are not acting with the urgency this crisis warrants, and that obvious policy solutions are not being adopted.

It all started with a gun purchase on Black Friday and ended with four dead and nine injured. A fifteen year old showed many signs that he struggled with violent thoughts. He then went on a shooting spree last week with a gun his parents failed to keep secured properly.

Right here in Pennsylvania, we have no laws on the books requiring safe storage of guns. Together we are going to change that. Click here right now to add your signature to our petition.

This latest shooting in Michigan is a great example of what not to do as a parent. These two parents purchased a gun, failed to keep it secure, and ignored all the warning signs from their child. When he killed and injured almost a dozen people, they had only just realized that the gun was missing from the home. Then when their son was apprehended, they went on the run. It is time to hold those accountable who endanger lives through irresponsible gun ownership.

In up to 80% of school mass shootings, the shooter got a gun from a family member or friend, not through an illegal sale to a minor.¹

Our legislation would require gun owners to lock up their guns and keep them away from kids. This simple measure will prevent many incidents of mass shootings, gun suicides, and accidental gun usage that can end in tragedy.
