Dear John,

A friendly reminder to please join me tomorrow [[link removed]] at 12:30 p.m. ET for a conversation with legal scholar Charlotte E. Blattner and Sentience Politics’ Managing Director Silvano Lieger about the historic fundamental rights for primates citizens’ initiative that will be voted on by the residents of the Swiss canton of Basel-Stadt in February 2022.

Time: 12:30 p.m. ET (check for your local time here [[link removed]] )

In 2016, Sentience Politics [[link removed]] launched a citizens’ initiative [[link removed]] in the Swiss Canton of Basel-Stadt to amend the Cantonal Constitution to grant nonhuman primates the fundamental right to life and to bodily and mental integrity. The initiative became the subject of a three-year-long legal dispute that ended in September 2020 when the Swiss Federal Supreme Court ruled that the initiative was valid and that the citizens of Basel-Stadt must be allowed to vote on it.

We are excited to discuss this groundbreaking and historic initiative with Charlotte and Silvano and what it means for the animal rights movement in Switzerland and globally.
