The Maine Republican Party just announced their proposed 2022 platform and it’s a direct attack on LGBTQ+ Mainers around the state. 

Unfortunately, this isn’t a surprise. Paul LePage and the Maine GOP have a long history of pursuing dangerous anti-LGBTQ+ policies. In 2018, LePage vetoed a bipartisan bill banning conversion therapy in Maine, making history as the only governor in the country to refuse to protect LGBTQ+ children at the time. 

LGBTQ+ rights are under attack from the Maine GOP. We must keep Maine Blue and protect our progress. Contribute any amount now to help the Maine Democrats elect people across the state.

As the first openly gay Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives, I feel a personal responsibility to do everything I can to stand up to this hateful platform and fight for the LGBTQ+ community across the state.

While Maine Republicans are trying to ban transgender student atheletes, Maine Democrats are ready to protect LGBTQ+ students and children in Maine. Thanks to Governor Mills and my fellow Democratic colleagues, we finally eliminated conversion therapy in 2019. But we still have more work to do.
