Americans owe a staggering $1.7 trillion in federal student loan debt. The debt burden makes an already drastic racial wealth gap worse -- with half of Black borrowers and a third of Latinx borrowers defaulting on their student loans within 20 years.

Student loan payments have been paused during the pandemic, but they are set to resume in less than two months. That means millions of people are about to be saddled with a huge burden while we're still working our way out of the pandemic.

It's unacceptable. But there's something President Biden can do about it right now. I've been calling on President Biden to cancel $50,000 in student debt per person, and I'm asking you to do the same.

President Biden has the opportunity to help millions of Americans immediately. Will you add your name to my petition now to call on him to cancel student debt?

Student debt doesn't just impact individuals. It slows the economy and discourages young people from entering important careers that society needs, like doctors or teachers.

We can help close the racial wealth gap, invigorate the economy, and help a new generation pursue important vocations, but we need President Biden to take action. I'm counting on you to raise your voice with me.

President Biden has the power to wipe out student debt with the flick of a pen. But it's up to us to keep the pressure on him to act.
