Friend,

Every eligible American should be able to vote. Republicans have made it clear that they reject this fundamental premise of our democracy.

They won’t stop us as we demand expanded ballot access nationwide.

The Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Act are a real chance at safeguarding our elections and promoting fair representation. The reforms proposed under these bills respond to our need for our voices to be heard in the decisions that govern our lives.

They would make voting easier and more accessible, stop racist disenfranchisement tactics before they start, ban partisan gerrymandering, and put an end to the dangerous influence of dark money.

Democrats must move swiftly to pass these transformative pieces of legislation or else we won’t have time to counter the attacks on our voting rights before the 2022 elections and before a decade of partisan gerrymandering takes hold.

Voting rights are under attack across this country and our democracy requires repair. The urgency for reform in this moment ahead of critical contests in 2022 is clear. We have a historic opportunity for sweeping voting rights protections -- and we will not squander it.
