If you are interested in running for a Navarro County office, candidates should contact Republican Party of Navarro County Chairman Steven L. Jessup, at 903-872-6287 or by using the E-mail contact on the www.navgop.org website [email protected]. Your request for a candidate packet does not mean you have officially declared running for office. Candidate Information Packets are available for pick-up, E-mail, or by appointment at Republican Headquarters, 111-B West Third Avenue, in downtown Corsicana.
Before any preliminary campaign collections or expenses, file your “Appointment of Treasurer” form with the Navarro County Elections Administrator, 601 North 13th Street, Corsicana. These expenses include your filing fee.
The Ballot Candidate Name Order Draw will occur at Republican Headquarters on Thursday December 23 at 6:30pm.
Candidates filing for multi-county jurisdiction positions -- such as U.S. Representative District 6, State Senator District 2, and State Representative District 8 – must file with the Republican Party of Texas in Austin.
Although re-districting maps have been approved by the Governor and the Navarro County Commissioners have approved specific precinct boundaries on Monday November 8, the State Legislature provided some slack time. Senate Bill SB13 states that Precinct Chair filing will be temporarily suspended at 11:59pm on Wednesday evening of December 1, to provide time for Precinct Chair applications to be verified that the candidates are a resident of their re-districted precinct.
The Texas Secretary of State Advisory ADV2021-22 announced the second Precinct Chair filing period to be held Saturday January 15 thru 6:00pm Saturday February 12. Hence, I cannot accept Precinct Chair filings until that time. If there are contested races, the Precinct Chair election will be held Tuesday May 24, 2022, the same date as the Primary Run-off Election.
Ten Precinct Chair candidates have filed so far. If you are interested in running for a Republican Party of Navarro County Precinct Chair position OR would like to continue serving, you can request a filing form by E-mailing [email protected] or by appointment at Republican Headquarters.
Precinct Chairs are responsible to identify, register, communicate, and turn-out voters. The Precinct Chair is a member of the County Executive Committee to vote upon local party issues. The next CEC meeting will be held Monday January 10, 2022.
The Republican Party of Navarro County www.navgop.org website “My GOP” tab shows the current Precinct Chair list. All Republican Precinct Chair positions are currently open for applications for the 2022-2024 two-year term.
All candidates whom have filed can be viewed on the Texas Secretary of State website.
We still need election workers for the March 1, 2022 Republican Primary Election. We have vacancies for Election Judges at the Latter Days Saints Church, MLK Center, Navarro College Cook Center, and Westside Baptist Church. We do not want to relinquish our Presiding role, due to the Republican majority vote. If you are interested in becoming an election worker, please contact me or Bill Carson.
